Eat my shorts

Saturday, March 24,1984. Shermer High School, Shermer, Illinois, 60062. Dear Mr. Vernon, We accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. What we did was wrong. But we think you're crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. What do you care? You see us as you want to see us - in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. You see us as a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess and a criminal. Correct? That's the way we saw each other at 7:00 this morning. We were brainwashed.

Ah man, I love The Breakfast Club so much. I'm completely infactuated with John Bender for the whole film, anyone else?

Let's all watch TEE VEE

I went to a film night at the Tate Modern some time last year called birds of paradise, a celebration of fashion in film. After some hardcore youtubing I've found a couple of the video's, the colours and fabrics are amazing in these and the music is beautiful so keep your eyes peeled (imagine if you actually had to peel your eyes, like everyday, gross) and your ears open.

La Peine du talion - Dir Gaston velle

Puce Moment - Kenneth Anger

I won't be getting the nightbus home this weekend because I have all the deadlines in the world. Theres nothing more strange (or stupid) than meeting people on the nightbus! Watch this teenage witch style video Vice sent me.

Panic on the streets of London

I'm not even going to attempt to try convince you that I have any sort of educated opinion or knowledge on politics because I know more facts about giraffes in all honesty BUT if even I can see that this country is going down the gutter then someone needs to put their arse into gear.

I will (hopefully) be protesting on Saturday.

Life Is Flashing Before Your Eyes

Vince Collins creates wonderfully surreal animations and has been doing for years, this is one of my favourite ones. His video's are really good for unusual colour combination idea's too

Everything is Illuminated

Just ordered this on DVD, look's absolutely amazing!

Autumn leaves

Autumn always turns me into a hopeless romantic, but don't tell anyone I said that! There's something about the nights drawing in much sooner and crispy leaves and fireworks and drinking big mugs of tea in the morning when the air is still really cold and sharp that crack through my thick shell, oh and burning Guy Fawkes too obviously.
The smell of Chanel Coco Mademoiselle always reminds me of Autumn too but I really have no idea why. So, I thought this advert was kind of fitting and I love it so much, Keira Knightly is an absolutely masterpiece.

Somewhere

When I first read about the film Somewhere I was left feeling cold. Another story about Hollywood excess. I then read  IMDB's plot summary;  'A hard-living Hollywood actor re-examines his life after his 11-year-old daughter surprises him with a visit.' and just felt, well really bloody disappointed.

Suddenly I saw something that made my mouth curl into an involuntary smile and I cried out with glee! Alas, Somewhere was written and directed by Sofia Coppola (The virgin suicides, lost in translation...google her) I also saw the soundtrack which features music by KISS, The Strokes, Foo Fighters and more to boot! After watching the trailer I'm so so excited to go see this!

CocoRosie - Lemonade

I found this online today and both the song and the video are incredibally beautiful and wonderfully eerie. You really have to watch it. Right now. It's only below this so you have no excuses.

I just want to be okay

This last couple of weeks have been really strange. I feel like I've never cried so hard or laughed so much. I've found friends in people I never expected to and bought some amazing shoes. I feel like I'm finding myself again and at the same time I feel lost in myself. I feel really alive.

And now VERY exposed.

But I think sometimes you need that.

Bon Iver - Skinny Love

I don't really post about music, it's not something I know much about and I find a new band/artist I like about once every 6 months. I'm too lazy to try and find music I like.

I've had Skinny Love by Bon Iver stuck in my head for three days and it's such a lovely song I thought I'd pop it on here.

Shirley Manson is a BABE

Personally I feel that Shirley Manson is completely unappreciated for both how talented she is and how beautiful she is. She's 43 and she's still smoking hot, did you see her in the bleed like me video?!  Well assuming you didn't here it is:

I thought she'd be a massive icon with the whole grunge revival. Screw you fashion world I'll keep her all to myself!

Almost Famous

I haven't seen Almost Famous in such a looong time, If you haven't seen it you should really watch it, it's not exactly ground breaking cinema but it IS good!

this is one of my favourite scenes from the film.

I really like films like this, cheesy American hipster band-esque films, because the outfits are usually really amazing and grungey.

Beyonce - Why don't you love me

Beyonce is back and she looks fiiine. I've seen many articles about this video both on blogs and in magazines so I  was very excited to watch it! Since I first watched it I must have played it again about a million times, not only is the song super-catchy and AWESOME but the aesthetics of the video are amazing. Beyonce has the perfect figure to pull off the pin up style, she looks absolutely amazing in this video and those legs...daaaaym!

ANYWAY

Fashion Icon: Lucille Ball

If you are unfamiliar with I love Lucy then here is a classic scene to have a ganders at...

Lucille Ball, AKA Lucy was not only a fantastic comedy actress,
capturing the sort of slapstick old school humor you can't help but
love, but she also had an amazing wardrobe that doesn't
look dated to this day.

This last look is very Miu Miu, and just look at those eyebrows,
awesome.
